Teachabout has a unique approach to school holiday programs.

Our programs are well thought-out and expansive with a strong focus on building relationships with the kids, their families and community members.

Our overall philosophy is to provide a positive, supportive and culturally respectful environment that fosters confidence and encourages enjoyable learning opportunities.

Our programs incorporate a wide variety of activities including art projects, science experiments, cultural knowledge, drama, ICT, music, dance and sport. English literacy, mathematics and problem-solving skills are integrated across these activities and also form the focus of specific sessions.

We participate in the mutual sharing of knowledge, experiences and opportunities. In practice, this means that everyone involved in the program – kids, community members and volunteers – will learn and experience new things through different cultural lenses.

Teachabout runs programs in both the wet and dry season holidays for kids in the upper primary years. A typical program runs over four weeks with daily morning and afternoon sessions. Our programs are non-compulsory and provided for the kids free of charge.

All of our Activity Leaders are volunteers who live in the community while running the program. As well as designing and facilitating activities, Teachabout actively promotes the sharing of cultural knowledge by supporting community members to facilitate activities and on-country trips.
